All’s Quiet With The Magical Pack
Life goes on per usual around here. The canine members of The Magical Pack have been taking turns getting out and about and enjoying some time to hob-nob with with anyone who shows the least bit of interest. On his most recent trip to The Wine Vault, Gunny rotated from lap to lap, perching as high as he could get to both survey and snuggle. He also ran into his most recent Pit Bull Convert, who had her adult daughter along. She tracked us down so that she could introduce Gunny, as she said she’d told her daughter all about us, and that Gunny’s bio card was hanging on the family refrigerator. This is the same person who was in favor of banning pit bulls in the state of N.C….until she spent 10 minutes with Gunny. Oscar hit our local Meineke with me yesterday and made some new friends with customers while also spending quality time with his “uncles” who work there. It cracks me up how he stands up, puts his paws on the counter, and peers over to see who’s working when we check in. Hope has been spending some time up at the lake with a friend of The Pack and has been a very well-behaved guest. It’s so easy to forget her past when she is here with me, but I still see glimpses of the abuse she endured when she gets frightened by other peoples’ body language, voices or even what they are wearing. Moose slippers gave her quite a start the other week.
There are some new leads with the Gunny book, and it involves me researching, researching and researching…but I am picking away at it.
Gunny will be heading back to “his” school in May, so here shortly we will begin preparing for his visits to the classroom for children with Autism, as well as for getting the permission we need from the Perseverance Award winners’ parents for him to “present” their awards.
