Fostering is one of the best ways that you can help the rescue and the dogs!

We provide fosters with food, crate and any other required materials while they are fostering for NMAR. We just ask that you please provide your foster with love, training and prepping them for life with their forever family. We also ask that you be available to bring them to adoption events, send us photos and possibly speak with potential adopters about them.

Please be aware that puppies are usually shorter term fosters than adult dogs.

Still have some questions about fostering? Please check out our Foster FAQ page for more information!

Meet some of our dogs in need of a foster home!

Emmy is part of our Singles Club! Will you please help us spread the word? Emmy would love to find a foster or forever home. If you’re looking for a smart, fun, active dog, you just have to meet Emmy. She has good energy and loves to play. Though she’d prefer to play with people, she also does quite well entertaining herself with Kongs and food puzzles. Intelligent and eager to learn, Emmy would excel at obedience training. She LOVES all people, she is gentle and is excellent at cuddling and giving hugs. She is a shelter favorite. Emmy does not do well with other dogs and will need to go to a home where she can be the only one. She was born in 2015 and will make a great companion. Emmy would be thrilled to meet you. Emmy is heartworm positive and once she gets in a home, we will treat her.

Meet Reecy! Reecy is a NMAR veteran and has been with our rescue for over 3 years! Reecy is a sweet girl who loves people and would love a chance to be in a loving foster home while she waits to find her perfect person! Her ideal foster/forever home is a place with a fenced in yard and another dog. Due to her size we think a home without young children is best. Can you give Reecy a warm and loving foster home?

Common is a three-year-old feist mix who weighs about 25 pounds. He was surrendered to our vet because his medical needs were more than the family could pay. Common is diabetic dog who will need insulin shots twice a day. He is a friendly dog. We will be partnering with the Humane Society of Charlotte to find the most perfect home for him.
