Adopting a dog is an excellent way to give a very deserving dog a second chance.

Here is a list of quick facts about dog adoption.

• Contrary to popular belief, shelter dogs usually don’t end up in shelters because they have a problem, the most common reason that dogs are surrendered is because people are moving and don’t want to bother with taking the dog.
• Adult dogs have a much lower chance of being adopted than puppies.
• Adult, black dogs are usually the last dogs to get adopted.
